The exhibition presents a series of entirely new works that together form a spatial staging of various individual pieces. Both collectively and individually, the works visually and conceptually relate to the Danish word “håndværker”.
The title of the exhibition carries a double meaning, playing on the fact that the Danish word “håndværker” can be understood in the singular, as a person—a craftsperson—and in the plural: crafts, or works of art in which the subject or the method of creation involves the use of hands. This duality in the exhibition title establishes a framework or narrative suggesting that the gallery may have engaged craftspersons, or that something is underway or in progress. This can be interpreted on different levels: on an individual level, as a transformation process for a person, or on a larger scale, suggesting that perhaps society as a whole is undergoing change, adaptation, or renovation.
