Portrait of an Exhibition presents a series of works that rethink contemporary portraiture by focusing on the often invisible people who help make art possible. Challenging the traditional portrait’s focus on figures of power, the exhibition highlights collaborators such as the framer, assistant, art historian, gallerists, and museum director. In doing so, it questions the myth of the solitary artistic genius and exposes the collective nature of artistic production. Each work offers a conceptual and material interpretation of a specific person and their role in the art world. As a whole, the exhibition functions as a tribute to those usually overlooked in narratives of art history.
